ImpactFuel - The CFYE Update
Challenge Fund for Youth Employment
Supporting initiatives to create a prosperous future for young women and men in the Middle East and Africa
July 2024
Dear LinkedIn Community,
July was a busy month for the CFYE team. We welcomed new (Call6) Implementing Partners (Call6) in Senegal, Nigeria, Morocco, Kenya and Egypt and closed our Call 1 projects in Uganda. On top of that, our In-Country and Utrecht-based teams kept organising activities and workshops for/with our Implementing Partners, collecting stories and testimonies from young women and men that benefit from our programs, and disseminating knowledge on youth employment, retention and attraction to new and disruptive job opportunities.
Every month we are committed to showing you how CFYE is not merely a program, but a catalyst for change. Beyond the numerical aspects, this newsletter will shine light on our program milestones and the broader implications of our partnerships in the MENA Region and Sub Saharan Africa.
New Podcast Episode Alert - Episode 15 is out!
Scaling Impact: Empowering African Youth through the Scalable Employment Model (SEM)
"What we're talking about here is the impact of co-creation, the impact of partnering, how the Dutch government along with sponsoring or supporting the Challenge Fund, working with Acumen as a partner […] There's so much more that will come out of it, not just jobs but also decent jobs in the home countries in which we operate and essentially these are sustainable jobs as well. That’s the future of Africa, which is something that we all have close to our heart but we also know how important it is for the world."
New Impact Story!
?? On the 15th of July we celebrated #WorldYouthSkillsDay, an occasion to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship. To highlight the impact that skills training has on youth employment, we are excited to share a new Impact Story focused on the agricultural sector!
In Kenya, our Implementing Partner Cherubet Foods, in collaboration with Abosi Top Hill Cooperative, is empowering young women through High-Iron Bean Farming, transforming it into a sustainable source of income. This initiative not only boosts their economic independence at different stages of their lives, but also contributes to community health with nutrient-rich produce.
