In today's fast-paced business world, leaders and HR professionals constantly seek ways to enhance productivity, increase employee satisfaction, and ensure the overall success of their organizations.
One powerful tool that has gained significant traction is wellness coaching.
In a recent interview with Nicolas Fleury , former CEO of ISO, he shared invaluable insights into how wellness coaching not only helped him to save the organization but also propelle it to new heights.
The Importance of Focusing on Value
What is often overlooked is the need to focus strictly on activities that bring value to both the individual and the organization.
During our interview at The Energy Lab Podcast, Nicolas Fleury stated,
"I focus only and strictly on what brings value to me, but also for the work that I'm doing for the organization. Eliminating all the rest that doesn't bring anything."
This mindset shift allowed Nicolas to streamline his efforts, ensuring that every action taken was purposeful and beneficial. All of this during a challenging phase in the organization he was leading.
A few questions that come up listening to Nicolas's story are:
I am sure many have asked themselves exactly the same questions, or similar.
Wellness Coaching: A Fundamental Shift
During the interview, Nicolas highlighted the misconception that wellness coaching is merely about superficial benefits, such as providing fruits baskets or meditation sessions.
Instead, he stresses:
"Well-being is really about developing a culture of high-sustainable performance to help the company thrive and achieve its goals," he explained.
So a few more questions for organisations that want to do “wellness at work” better.
Measuring the Impact of Well-Being
In a data-driven world, demonstrating the measurable return on investment (ROI) of wellness initiatives can be challenging.
Nicolas shared his personal experience of measuring the impact of sleep on his cognitive performance.
He found that when he slept less than six hours, his mood, focus, and problem-solving abilities suffered. By increasing his sleep, he saw a significant improvement in his leadership capabilities.
While measuring the direct impact on the bottom line can be complex, Nicolas suggested several indicators that organizations can track.
These metrics provide a clear picture of the benefits of well-being initiatives.
Leaders' Role in Promoting Well-Being
Nicolas firmly believes that leaders involvement is crucial for the success of wellness programs.

He argued that leaders should lead by example, demonstrating the benefits of well-being practices.
"The CEO needs to be involved. The leadership team needs to be involved. And they should be the first to understand and deploy what they think is good for the organization".
Nicolas's own experience of experimenting with various wellness practices and sharing the outcomes with his staff created a positive ripple effect throughout the organization.
Employees saw firsthand the impact of these practices on their leader and were inspired to adopt similar habits.
The Obvious Benefits
The benefits of prioritizing employee well-being are evident.
When employees feel comfortable, trusted, and autonomous, they are more likely to perform at their best and achieve organizational objectives.
"It's a question of common sense. When you make people comfortable and you trust them, you give them autonomy, you allow them to work, you allow them to give what they are really capable to give for the company. Obviously, you are going to get better results".
Summing it up:
Wellness coaching has a profound role on organizational success.
By focusing on value, creating a culture of high sustainable performance, measuring the impact of well-being, and involving leadership, organizations can unlock the full potential of their employees and achieve remarkable results.
How are you integratig wellness into your strategies to foster a thriving and productive workforce?
