The impact of values on success
The question we want to think about is; with the current skill shortage we have to be clear about the environment we are offering. Values, believes and morals are some of the most discussed topics in our social networks, but:
Why should you listen to me?
My goal is to inspire our society to be open-Minded and realise that a high wage won't solve our problems.
How do we negotiate a positive Mindset between:
Competition is increasing and to seem more attractive is on our meeting agenda every day, so that we compete with all values available, and create the superlative "Core Values" for things that we want to stand out for.
Core Values
We all consider a diverse range of ethics and morals, keeping them vague reduces guilt when we breach those.
If you stand for healthy food, how can you consider McDonald's as an option? If you value good and healthy food, you will feel an inner conflict ordering fast food, a mixture of stress and guilt. I am sure you know what I am talking about. Think of a vegetarian and their persistent mentality; That is a lived value, there is no option to breach that.
When we create a lifestyle that follows a clear path, and people around us can predetermine our decisions on various topics, we managed successfully to articulate our principles verbally and nonverbally.
As clearer we define our Vision, the easier we can make decisions:

Having our own morals and beliefs will change the world around us significantly;
What if a company struggles to live their values?
We all know businesses struggle with their way to express the Vision and Mission statement. It is an opportunity to be proactive and show courage to do better and help to improve the image of the brand.
The courage to start that conversation is called leadership.
That will close the circle of this article; People want to work for businesses that inspire communities and show a clear purpose in the Industry. The pride to be able to say "I work for XYZ" is worth more than the $$$.

3 年Values are like languages, they are actions within the Company. If we all speak different languages it will create not just chaos but will look very disorganised to the internal and external clients. Multilingual staff and diverse heritages will enrich a country, a state, a town a business and even a family. Diversity is my next and I actually would claim it as my highest value.

3 年I think authenticity is the key in building a brand. At least that’s what I‘m aiming for… so many people act differently to what they say and it’s only confusing.

3 年Values are imaginary leaders which guide our teams on daily basis. A business that nurtures their values will experience a successful operation. What are the Values in your business. Every internal and external customer should know those values; - Through experience - Rather than through meetings and trainings I would love to hear your believes, morals and values. Please leave them in the comments.

3 年Great article Tim Kleinmann I think hospitality was struggling to recruit even long before covid-19. No doubt chef's wages have risen in recent years but long hours, poor management, bullying kitchen culture and harassment remain problems in this industry. I know many chefs who were passionate about their job and left industry after few years. Atmosphere around you at workplace matters alot.
