Technology in Mining
The use of Technology, AI & Automation improves the efficiency of operations and improves performance. The increase of technology in this industry has boosted companies' profits and extended their capabilities.
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence is used throughout mining and operations, mainly used by companies to locate minerals. AI is also used within autonomous equipment such as self-driving vehicles. These vehicles are typically used to navigate narrow tunnels. 3D maps, assessment, satellite imagery and site inspections are all AI-driven.
Automation
Automation plays a big role in mining, companies can now reduce capital and labour costs, improve their energy efficiency and more because of the automation of operations and control systems.
Robotics
Robots are making their way into the mining industry, and one of their main use is for the detection of dangerous gases, previously in the early 20th Century this was done using canaries, this innovation has protected birds from these dangerous environments. Robots also assist in drilling and excavation which increases efficiency and keeps miners safe in dangerous areas.
