Impact of pension protection act reviewed

With the passage Bill C-228, the Pension Protection Act that provides super-priority of unfunded defined benefit pension liabilities over most creditors in the event of an employer insolvency or bankruptcy, plan sponsors are now reviewing their risk tolerance and investment and funding policies. Kelly Bourassa, a partner and Calgary leader of the restructuring and insolvency group at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP; Andrew Whale, vice-president, strategic risk management, at the CAAT Pension Plan; and Alistair Almeida, segment lead, asset owners, at CIBC Mellon; will explore its impacts and the opportunities available for plan sponsors, including how to improve access to credit and de-risk their pension plans, at the Benefits and Pensions Monitor Meetings & Events ‘Pension Protection Act – Considerations & Implications’ webinar. It takes place June 28. Information is at Registration (gotowebinar.com)
