The Impact of October 7 on Social Media

The media's role remains to convey the truth to the people. However, under current circumstances, social media has enabled the selective display of information, influencing global sentiments towards the Palestinian cause. Despite paid advertisements attempting to shape the narrative, the public's voice remains resilient.

Nevertheless, we face the reality of a tool that can swiftly and dangerously manipulate news, altering opinions and perspectives. The Gaza issue, which existed for 75 years, didn't awaken our conscience until its impact on our daily lives became evident. We realise that our Western-dominated existence controls everything from our sustenance to the news we consume.

Unfortunately, there is no Arab-origin platform that rivals the power of current social media tools. This serves as a reminder of our individual roles and responsibilities before God, urging us to reflect on our lives and actions.
