The impact of maintaining a positive attitude

We have all heard it, and it is so true: Attitude is 98% of the battle. Whether you are managing a difficult account or are on mile 36 of a 50-mile race, it is all mental. In juggling all of your different responsibilities, work at keeping a positive attitude and count your blessings each and every day. Wake up in the morning with this being the first thought in your head. Leave the office at the end of the week by identifying the small successes that all add up and lead to wins.

Avoid negative people! These people can drain your energy and more importantly, their negativity can easily worm its way into your brain and destroy your productivity without you realising it.

We need to “work happy” and not let negativity take over.

I recall my early days in a new sales job where I had been doing very well for three months. Then suddenly, without making any changes in what I was doing, my sales dropped dramatically and for three months I made no money. I realised that the only thing that had changed was that every morning a colleague had started coming into my office, regaling me with his hard luck stories. I started avoided his attentions and immediately my sales returned to former levels.

The old adages are still very true – nothing has changed,

“Scratch with the turkeys or fly with the eagles.”

“If you ship hasn't come in – swim out to meet it!”

It’s all in the top two inches – your brain. Your attitude. Your choice.
