I am tired. Anyone else?

Watching the Super Bowl? Think I'm going to pass for the first time in 50+ Super Bowls. I've spent a long Sunday watching the Chiefs win 3 of the last 5, including two victories over my local team, the Niners. And they just beat the Eagles two years ago. It's hard pass for me.

And the anti-DEI wave has subsumed the RTO conversations, and formerly progressive firms like Accenture are rolling back DEI, while the biggest unauthorized PI data breach in US history was perpetrated by insiders.

I'm tired.

But the world keeps spinning, and we have to soldier on. So take a break, grab a fresh cup of coffee, and get back to it.

High functioning teaming operate from a set of known, core principles. Remove friction, increase the speed and quality of organizational decision making. The rules themselves are less important than the shared understanding for expectation alignment.

Power Efficiency Curve

The Cray-1 super computer used 115 kW continuous power. A modern smart phone uses 2 - 4 Watts, working hard, can spike to 8 to 12 Watts. It's literally 0.00008 times more efficient while delivering 4,000 times more computing power. These are just crazy numbers?- Jeff Frick

Lots of talk about the power consumption happening to support the data centers that support GenAI

Exponential curves apply to power consumption too (along with cost and power).

In the '70s, the Cray-1 super computer used as much electricity in a day, ad 4 homes in a month. 115 kW. Today, a modern smart phone delivers thousands of times more computer for a tiny fraction of the power (and cost)

That curve is only getting steeper.

Exponential curves make it hard to perceive the future, and how fast things move.

After taking in an evening with Ray Kurzweil, and Interview with Jack Nilles, I had to find some meaningful, 'comprehensible' comps. Computing - memory, CPU, storage, bandwidth, power, cost.
