The Impact of Cybercriminals: The Importance of Having an IT Expert in Your Company

In order for companies to potentially thrive in the market, it's important that they are adequately protected from external risks.

According to a study, 76% of companies utilizing cloud solutions view cybersecurity as a source of new business opportunities. This underscores the pivotal role of expert IT talent capable of leading any business project. In this context, it's imperative that a company's employees can influence process quality through their specialized knowledge, creating a security foundation within the organization, shaping how they think, create, and connect.

Implementing robust business practices can enhance a company's performance, prevent information theft, and contribute to customer trust. As threats become more sophisticated, a company's leadership depends on their readiness to swiftly support their security team in case of policy violations.

Furthermore, corporate executives must be aware of diverse online risks, such as phishing, database breaches on websites, spam, and computer viruses that can disrupt or manipulate information. The percentage of cyberattacks can also be linked to gender-based harassment. Between the ages of 20 and 29, 25% of men and 31.1% of women faced such situations. Similarly, in the age group of 30 to 39, 21.3% of men and 22.9% of women encountered these issues. Link: Source

Even companies are not exempt from these acts of harassment and data theft, exacerbated by new forms of cybercrime used by hackers in 2023. According to a study by Mario Luis Fuentes, Researcher at PUED-UNAM, 47% of companies reported increased risk events due to ransomware, while 45% reported an increase in phishing attempts. One of the most common attacks is "credential hijacking."

These incidents have resulted in losses of up to 20 million pesos, in some catastrophic cases.

Furthermore, examining cybersecurity statistics across different LATAM regions reveals an astounding 80 million cyberattack attempts in the country, making it the highest reported number in Latin America, with 85% of detections originating here.

Considering this, the geographic breakdown is also revealing. The highest internet usage times among cyberbullying victims were recorded in Nuevo León, with an average of 7.3 hours per day. Sonora and Baja California Sur closely followed with 7.1 hours. Meanwhile, victims in Puebla and Tlaxcala reported the lowest daily usage time, averaging 4.7 hours, and an average of 4.3 hours in Oaxaca.

Therefore, maintaining a robust cybersecurity division is highly important. This capability helps address any web-related issues, contributing to the protection of corporate data, a valuable treasure in the digital sea, guided by strong organizational security practices.
