Shares in major German carmakers slumped 4-6% this week, with concerns that Donald Trump's victory in the US election could mean significant tariffs could be imposed on the European car industry (The Guardian).

Meanwhile, Tesla shares jumped 12% on the election news. Elon Musk was a strong supporter of Donald Trump, and the tariffs placed on Chinese EVs could mean good news for US-based Tesla (Forbes).

A number of carmakers have announced job cuts recently, with Nissan revealing 9000 jobs would be lost in order to try to cut costs by $2.6 billion. Audi are also planning thousands of job cuts outside of production (Reuters).

BYD reported an 11.5% rise in Q3 profit last week, with revenue up 24% on the year to over $28 billion (Reuters).
