American Style Sports Bar

Bars are an central part of everyday communal activity, be it as the venue for a party, a place to chat, or just somewhere to blow off some steam – and are therefore a huge attraction in every Chinese city.  

The bar as a public space, can be traced back in time to the Roman era. It made the ancient city, stimulating its vitality and forming a friendly, open and unique public space.

To this end, we have to mention the opening of Big Bamboo bar on Laowai Street in Shanghai’s Changning district. Themed around sports, with a large pool table at its center, the layout is akin to that of the classic American sports bar, taking inspiration from the carefree lifestyle of the American cowboy.

The bar combines brick and wood in its decoration, from the first floor to the top floor. Bronze stairways meet Art Deco-style decorative bricks that give the impression of an expanse of space. From doors to door handles, every detail of Big Bamboo reflects its theme, fully embodying the feeling of the classic American sports bar.

The pursuit of this kind of American design is reflected in the primitive rustic natural elements used in the bar’s floors, which use imondi’s old wood (Salvaged Collection) products, part of its United States series of Victoria color flooring (American Salvaged Oak, Weathered flooring).
