US Immigration News & Notes

?? May 2024 Visa Bulletin: In the May 2024 Visa Bulletin, Final Action Dates for EB-1, EB-2, and EB-3 Worldwide (All Other), China and India remain unchanged.?USCIS has indicated they will accept adjustment of status applications pursuant to Final Action Dates (Chart A) for the employment-based preference filings.

?? Employment Authorization for Palestinians Granted DED: DHS posted a Federal Register notice establishing procedures for Palestinians covered by Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) to apply for DED-based Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) valid through Aug. 13, 2025.?

Accompanying this announcement is a Special Student Relief notice for F-1 nonimmigrant Palestinian students so that eligible students may request employment authorization, work an increased number of hours while school is in session, and reduce their course load while continuing to maintain F-1 status through the DED period. ? TPS for Ethiopia: On April 12, 2024, DHS announced the extension and redesignation of Ethiopia for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 18 months from June 13, 2024, through December 12, 2025, with a notice in the Federal Register.??Learn more?


Global Immigration News & Notes

Australia: Australia’s Department of Home Affairs has tasked Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA) to develop a new Core Skills Occupations List (CSOL). The CSOL will become the basis for one of the 3 visa pathways under a new Skills in Demand visa which is to replace the 482 visa later this year.

Brazil: Effective midnight on April 10, 2025, a visa will be required for citizens of the United States, Canada, and Australia to travel to Brazil, regardless of the purpose of travel.

Italy: From April 5, 2024, the Italian Digital Nomad Visa and Digital Nomad Immigration Permit (permesso di soggiorno) is available for applicants. The visa is open to remote employees, freelancers, and self-employed individuals.

Poland: The Polish government has published a draft law to the Act on Assistance to the Citizens of Ukraine in connection with the ongoing armed conflict in Ukraine. Among other changes, the law proposes to extend residence permits of Ukrainian nationals until September 30, 2025.

United Kingdom: In advance of the UK’s transition to an eVisa, individuals with physical immigration documents such as Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) will need to apply for an eVisa before the end of 2024. Additionally, anyone with a UK visa valid beyond December 31, 2024, but their BRP expires on that date will also need to apply.
