Immigration and Tech updates galore

Immigration and Tech updates galore

Another few weeks, another round of updates in Canadian immigration, AI/tech and more.

Let's jump in:

Canadian immigration

We're due for some Express Entry draws this week, but since my last newsletter we had a few more. That being said, I've found them underwhelming and quite confusing for the first 2 months of 2024.

More info on recent EE draws and my thoughts here.

I also went live last week for the Visto Show, where I discussed:

  • recent EE draws and my thoughts
  • the new pilot programs announced for rural regions and Francophones
  • recent changes to travel requirements for Mexican citizens

You can check out the full episode here, which also includes some extra special announcements and tech viewings, such as...

Immigration tech/AI

Part of what I covered in the second half of the Visto Show (linked above) was a live showing of VistoBot - Canada's first immigration AI copilot. VistoBot can help answer immigration questions, create guides, draft emails/documents/letters and much more.

Definitely check out the second half of the Visto Show where I took immigration questions live from the audience and had VistoBot answer on-air!

We also had another huge launch by releasing our Express Entry automation on Visto!

This means that firms can prep EE files in about 4 clicks with our custom EE flow, including the exact EE questions/forms pre-built, document checklists, ITA notifications and much more - all setup and ready to use, out-of-the-box.

If you're an immigration firm looking to save time on your EE files, definitely check out the new feature here.

Other content and hot topics

A lot of other fun topics and content from the last few weeks, including:

  • a recent episode of the Canadian Immigration Pros podcast where I discussed the problem of international students/immigrants leaving Canada with Emily Lukaweski
  • DIY services are becoming very popular in Canadian immigration for a few reasons. Some immigration professionals already do it (a lot), some don't love the idea. I shared some of my thoughts and had some good discussion on it in the comments of a recent post here.
  • How will AI re-shape Canadian immigration - and other industries? One of the many things I discussed on The Legal AI Show hosted by Manbani Duggal

That's it!

Another update is in the books. Thanks as always for following along, and if you want my more personal (and weekly) update as a cofounder/lawyer trying to make his way in Canada (including the business books I'm reading along the way), make sure you're subscribed to my substack here too.

Have a great week,
