IMMIGRATION NEWS WEEKLY ROUNDUP - 9th JUNE 2023

The?Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) has been updated this week to include Gulf and Jordanian visitors. The?(GCC) states, Jordan nationals will soon only be required to pay £10 to apply for an ETA, which will allow them to visit the UK multiple times over a two-year period.?

The Government remains steadfast in its efforts to control immigration, claiming that progress is being made. As part of this initiative, the Government has allocated a substantial budget to seek assistance from Turkish border forces in preventing migrants from crossing the channel.

During a parliamentary debate, Yvette Cooper, Shadow Home Secretary for the Labour Party, criticized the Government's claims, pointing out that net migration has reached a record high, since last December. This was part of a broader discussion on the Illegal Migration Bill.

Two interesting perspectives have emerged this week on migration control measures.
