Immigration news, LMIAs and morning routines

Immigration news, LMIAs and morning routines

Another 2 weeks, another exciting update with a good mix of immigration news, a Visto update and some more of my content from the last few weeks.

Let's jump in:

Canadian immigration news

Two big stories from the last two weeks: a new immigration minister in Canada and the new Canadian H1-B program filling up within 48 hours.

Lots to discuss about both, so I had some content covering:

  • What do I think about the appointment of the new immigration minister, Marc Miller? No clue - here's why, and more specifically, why I don't actually have a clue whether he'll be good or not...
  • A few weeks ago Immigration Canada launched their new program targetting 10,000 H1-B holders in the US to come to Canada on open work permits. Not-so-surprisingly, it filled up within 2 days, but is the program really that great of an idea? Here's why I don't think it is, including the last episode of the Visto Show where I discuss it in-detail

Visto update

As most of you know by now, I spend all of my time (when not posting on LinkedIn of course) building Visto.ai - a platform that helps Canadian immigration professionals prep and file applications much faster using automation/AI.

In August we'll be launching our new LMIA feature, which will make it easy for firms to work with Canadian employers/clients applying for LMIAs: manage/track their info, supporting documents, recruitment details, business legitimacy documents, easily copy/paste to the online portal, and more.

If you're doing a lot of LMIAs these days, want to learn more or have any suggestions for good features we can add, let me know!

Morning Routines

If you're like me and you like personal development, you probably love reading about morning routines. Everyones is a little different, yet I never get bored learning about what the best and brightest do first thing in the morning.

I don't consider myself the best and brightest, but I've certainly got into a pretty good morning routine recently and I shared it in a recent post here.

Other content

Some other stuff I post/share that you might like if you enjoy reading the SG Weekly:

  • every 2 weeks I send out the Visto Bi-Weekly - this is a newsletter focused exclusively on Canadian immigration. News, updates, Visto features and more. Can sign up here.
  • my business podcast is still alive and well, where every 2 weeks, I go live with good friend Chris Silvestri to share stories from our last few weeks in business. Chris is building a copywriting/UX agency, and I'm building Visto. Watch or listen to the latest episode here.
  • every week I share a quick story from my life as a tech cofounder building Visto, a key lesson and review the book I'm reading. Sign up here to get it every Monday morning.

That's it!

Another update in the books. Thanks as always for following along and supporting my journey, and if you know anyone who might like it too, make sure to give them a tag or send them my way!

Have a great week,

Josh
