?? Global Visa Wait Times Updated
The estimated wait time to receive an interview appointment at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate can change weekly and is based on actual incoming workload and staffing. These are estimates only and do not guarantee the availability of an appointment.
Applicants are encouraged to review their designated consulate's website or monitor global wait times through the?State Department.
???? Canadian?Visa Waiver Program Expanded To 13+ Nationalities
Oh, Canada! The Canadian government has recently announced visa-free entry for nationals of 13 additional countries traveling to Canada by air for tourism or business. This new policy is?effective immediately, but there are certain criteria that need to be met.
The countries included in this visa-free entry are Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Costa Rica, Morocco, Panama, the Philippines, Seychelles, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay.
To qualify for visa-free travel, foreign nationals from the mentioned countries must have either held a Canadian temporary resident visa within the last 10 years or currently possess a valid United States non-immigrant visa. You can review the process to obtain?Electronic Travel Authorization?on the government website.
Please note that nationals from the aforementioned countries still require a temporary resident visa when entering Canada by car, bus, train, or boat, including cruise ships. Additionally, if you are traveling to Canada for work purposes or require work authorization, you must submit a work permit application online via a consulate.
???Canada Re-Opens Immigrant Investor Program, With Caveats
Want to invest in Canada? You're in luck, the government of Quebec has proposed new regulations to revamp economic immigration programs, including the?Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP).
A 45-day public consultation period is now open for stakeholders to provide feedback. After analyzing the comments and finalizing the regulations, the QIIP is expected to reopen in early 2024. The proposed changes include requirements such as demonstrating French language proficiency, having a secondary school diploma, residing in Quebec for a minimum period, and making a risk-free investment of CAD 1 million.
The QIIP is unique among Canadian business immigration programs as it does not require active involvement in managing a Canadian business. Applicants must have a net worth of CAD 2 million and relevant management experience.
Successful applicants and their families are granted a three-year temporary stay in Canada, allowing them to work and study in Quebec. They can then apply for permanent residence.
