Immerse yourself: A digital revolution in the making?

Immersive experiences! Full immersion! Buzzword or billion Euro industry in the making? Our industry is taking note of the massive advances that are being made in the world of 'immersive' technologies, both in the more traditional understanding of 'immersive' tech (think audio, CAVE systems, etc.) but also in the more 'futuristic' approaches such as Meta's new Orion prototype, which aims to bring 'holographic' experiences to life with a neural interface.

Even governments are starting to take notice, as UK tech minister Sir Chris Bryant visited Digital Catapult 's new 5G immersive lab which aims to encourage businesses in the UK’s north-east to adopt immersive, cutting-edge technologies to aid in digital transformation.

Buzzword or not, one thing is clear, this stuff can blow our socks off if it's done right, and it's up to us as manufacturers, integrators, and journalists like me who really want to have a go, to develop, champion, and deliver these amazing experiences.
