FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Samuel Ioron Foundation launches the Equal Access DB project, an upscale to Rural Urban Rightful.

2nd May, Benue, Nigeria -The Samuel Ioron Foundation is excited to announce the launch of a new upscale project titled; 'EqualAccess DB’,? effective immediately until 01.02 2026. MISEREOR sponsors this project to support the development and implementation of a database monitoring and management system to tackle the non-registration of camp residents,? improve data-driven interventions, and empower the women living in camps.?

With the increase of the Herder-Farmer crisis, several families have been displaced, with women and girls suffering sexual exploitation, forced marriages, and violence in displacement camps. Communities are no longer safe for living and farming activities, and people are forcefully sent out of their communities daily for fear of being killed. The displacement camps have had an increasingly high number of people trooping into the camp daily from affected communities with little to no means of livelihood.?

Samuel Ioron Foundation (SIF) have, through the lessons learned from the Rural, Urban Righful project activities such as the art exhibition and co-creation labs, discovered that co-design and co-creation workshops, training, and development activities are instrumental to target groups being involved and engaging in projects, taking ownership. Through dialogue with the women and marketplace research, it found that women and girls who are skilled and have access to business opportunities will be better able to protect themselves against sexual exploitation and be more confident in reporting cases as the women will no longer depend on humanitarian support for essential needs.?

A participant in the Rural-Urban Rightful Project (pictured), whom we supported through the pilot, shared that empowered women will be more open to reporting cases of sexual exploitation and also fending for themselves, an act that will reduce women’s over-dependence on humanitarian officer’s support for livelihood and thus curb sexual exploitation and forced relationships.?

The project uses the hashtag #equalaccessDB to spread the word and encourage participation in the project.?
