IMM 6th Summit in Bamberg

Back in 2018, Tony Di Benedetto and I--as co-editors-in-chief of Industrial Marketing Management--launched the inaugural IMM Summit. The aim of the summit was to offer a platform for debating (as opposed to writing and reading) current theory and practice challenges and their solutions. We wished to establish an interactive format enabling academia to develop and discuss thought leadership thereby developing solutions for society.?

Papers presented at the summit were rigorous and thought-provoking and examined current and emerging topics in industrial?and?business-to-business marketing:

  1. Literature reviews, which survey critical points in industrial?and?business-to-business marketing literature, should describe, summarize, and critically evaluate previous work relating to the chosen industrial?and?business-to-business marketing topic. Literature reviews must make a significant contribution to our understanding of industrial?and?business-to-business marketing by providing integrative framework(s) and/or paths for further research. Conceptual, methodological, or empirical studies, such as meta-analyses, qualitative studies, experiments, or surveys, which contribute in one of three ways, also are welcome.
  2. A conceptual study might improve conceptual definitions of original constructs, develop an improved theoretical rationale for existing linkages, identify and conceptually define additional constructs to include within existing conceptual frameworks, or develop theoretical linkages along with an accompanying rationale that suggest more comprehensive integrative frameworks for understanding the chosen industrial?and?business-to-business marketing topic.
  3. Methodological entries might examine changes in the design of prior studies or modifications in experimental procedures that, for example, enhance the validity of statistical conclusions or increase the experimental realism of the experiment.

The summit was held in at Copenhagen Business School. The following years, the summits alternated between Copenhagen Business School and Fox School of Business at Temple University.

Starting 2023, Tony and I thought that we should involve the broader industrial?and?business-to-business marketing community in organizing the summits. Thus, in 2023, Professor Bj?rn Ivens hosts the 6th IMM Summit at his university, which is University of Bamberg. Thank you so much, Bj?rn, for doing this. We are delighted to organize the summit with you. And this year, the summit will feature 49 interesting papers.

And in 2024 and in 2024, it looks as if the IMM Summits will take place in Leeds (Ghasem Zaefarian at Leeds University Business School) and in Lyon (Catherine Pardo at Emlyon Business School).
