Imbalance Stunts Flight

This week, I came across this concerning piece on imbalance of wealth globally. I am a business guy, and I believe that business can and must be a noble source of great work where livings are made in service to the greater communities. Anything less than that is simply opportunism and greed, not business. I grew up amidst business and it was good work done in service to the needs of the community... and wealth was created from such a body of work.

Business is an economic engine for a community. Still, I wholeheartedly believe that extreme inequities of wealth serve none of us. One wing cannot fly. The extremes of poverty and wealth are unhealthy for a global civilization. 

This is not socialism. This is the reality of any healthy organism; balance. We are not talking here of pure equity; everyone making the same. We are talking of the abolition of extremes of wealth and poverty. A small percentage of exceedingly wealthy people amidst millions of impoverished does not serve any great economy. It is lacking vision for real growth. Indeed, it is greed over growth.

That is not business. It is neither Justice nor Fairness in action.  Nor, is it Vision.  That is something hideous and unhealthy.  So, how can you advance the notion of eliminating the extremes of wealth and poverty at school, work, business, community and country? What actions can you take, big or small... in the classroom to the boardroom? Until we do, we will only flap around on the ground, with one wing.
