I have discussed burnout on my blogs for years. I have written a book on Physician Retention to help hospital administrators keep good doctors. Unfortunately, no one is listening especially the AMA!
I have criticized the AMA over and over again for sleeping with the gov’t, insurers, and the hospitals only because they have. The above image put out by THEM says it all. Read the editor’s note. If burnout is at an all-time high then how have they led the effort to fix it? It sure seems they are admitting that they suck and have failed. This is a comment from a reader on my blog:
And why hasn’t the VP of Professional satisfaction, the profoundly evil and incompetent Sinsky, been fired long ago for being such a total failure in her position? As the AMA is a big proponent of outcomes-based pay, she has been such a disaster it would be hard to calculate how much she owes the AMA.
Now they want to use health data on physicians themselves to understand things? I have this sneaky feeling they just may want to sell that data in the future. They have done that with all our other info so why not this?
Doctors are burning out. Doctors need help. Hospitals NEED to keep good doctors. The AMA is not their answer.
