"Man's ignorance of the future is the result of his ignorance of his inner talking. His inner talking mirrors his imagination, and his imagination is a government in which the opposition never comes into power." This quote from Neville Goddard, highlights the importance of understanding one's own thoughts and imagination in understanding and predicting what will likely become our future.
Our inner thoughts, often referred to as self-talk, play a significant role in shaping our perception of reality. As a matter of fact, a study published in the journal American Psychologist, found that 95% of an adult’s behavior is the automatic result of our self-talk reflecting our habitual, unconscious values and assumptions – our mindset. This mindset - not our conscious intention - is what actually shapes our decision-making and actions. This means that if we are not aware of the negative or limiting thoughts that we have, we will continue to make decisions based on these false perceptions of reality, which can prevent us from seeing and seizing opportunities for growth and success.
On the other hand, when we're aware of our inner thoughts and actively work to change and then leverage them, we can use our imagination to create a more positive and empowering reality for ourselves. Our imagination is an immensely powerful tool that allows us to visualize and plan for the future, and when we use it in an intentional, disciplined and constructive manner, it can help us to achieve our goals and aspirations.

Goddard’s quote suggests that in order to gain greater insight into what will likely become our future, we must first understand our inner thoughts and their links to our, often untamed and undisciplined, imagination. By being mindful of our self-talk and actively working to change negative or limiting thoughts, we can use our imagination to create a brighter and more fulfilling future for ourselves.
