Imagine all the people....serving as a team.
“Leaders get what they create, or allow” Dr. Henry Cloud
We are a team, because what we want to accomplish, we cannot do alone. It is our responsibility to see the future and create the opportunities to get there. But we cannot do that on our own, we have, to have the support of one another to do that. We must have an environment that is built on trust, compassion, ownership, and mutual accountability. We must have a culture that not only allows for open dialogue with one another but encourages it. We are “we” because if its just me, success will not happen. We must value one another so much that we don’t leave things unresolved or unsaid. We must require that certain behaviors be prohibited, and others required. A great leader ought to be able to not only identify problems, but also be able to facilitate, guide, or lead to a solution.
There will always be days that are more challenging than others. There will always be problems, or “opportunities” in our paths. These will exist no matter where you are in life or where you are called to serve or lead. There is also another constant truth, how you choose to behave, react, treat others, and make decisions, are ALL within your control. This is a truth that we are obligated and responsible for modeling and living out in our role as a leader. This truth is a non-negotiable value, that is and always will be required of successful teams.
So, imagine the possibilities of a team that is open with one another. Imagine the possibilities of a team that is full of people listening to understand, rather than to just respond. Imagine the possibilities of a team full of people that were constantly concerned with building their individual talents, as well as the talents and strengths of those around them. Imagine the possibilities of a team full of people challenged each other, encouraged each other, and was accountable to each other. Imagine the possibilities, if that was us.
