As has been the case for my previous ten years at Currey Ingram Academy, I am filled with a profound sense of excitement and optimism as a new school year begins. The theme guiding us this year, Imagine and Achieve, perfectly encapsulates the journey we are on as a school and the aspirations we hold for our students. As in previous years, this theme is more than just words – it is a call to action, a beacon for the year.

The origin of this year’s theme is one that speaks to the heart of our community. During our annual CIPO spring fundraiser, parents have the opportunity to bid for their children to be "Head of School for the Day." Last spring, a Middle School student, being less enthused by the usual privileges of the role (choosing the lunch menu, deciding dress code, touring campus, etc.), wanted to sit in on an administrative meeting. Love it, but how do I create a meeting that will not turn this young man off of adult work life? I decided we’d discuss the Middle School experience from a student’s perspective – a conversation that was both enlightening and affirming. As the meeting drew to a close, we turned our attention to the upcoming school year, and it was in that moment of shared creativity and insight that the theme Imagine and Achieve was born.

We imagine a future where Currey Ingram Academy stands as a sustainable and accessible global leader in learning difference education. This vision is one that we are committed to achieving by continuing to provide a transformational school experience for all of our students. It is through this vision that we empower each student to explore their unique potential. It is through this vision that we challenge ourselves as educators to continually grow and innovate. It is through this vision that we communicate to parents where we have every intention of going.

We achieve our future, day in and day out, by staying true to our mission: "...to provide an exemplary JK-12 day and boarding program that empowers students with learning differences to achieve their fullest potential." Our mission guides everything we do, from the classroom to the community, and it is the foundation upon which we fulfill our vision.

As we embark on this journey together, we are guided by the soon-to-be-launched Our Mission, Our People, Our Future strategic plan. This plan is the product of hundreds of hours of conversations and collaboration, showcasing the collective wisdom and vision of our community. It will chart the course for Currey Ingram Academy over the next five years, ensuring that we not only imagine our future – but achieve it with purpose.

Together, let us imagine a future filled with possibilities and work tirelessly to achieve it. This school year promises to be one of growth, discovery, and triumph – and I am honored, as always, to share this journey with all of you.?
