Imagination Economy - Are we there yet?

Every human society can be adequately described by the tools used to purchase ‘comfortable survival’. In the ‘Information economy’ which currently dominates business, it is by manipulating information. As much as it has accelerated massive changes in the world, it has also left its own blind spots in the trajectory of evolution.

In the Imagination economy which we are entering into, it is more about handing over the task of managing information completely to machines, and doing what human beings are designed to do, which is to imagine. Akin to how the networked computers speed and global reach has emphasized and perpetuated the importance of information, in the Imagination age, ordinary individuals can translate their ideas into realities and share them directly with other individuals.

In order to prepare for a life in a world designed by Imagination, first we have to decide what kind of people we have to be to survive and thrive in the world of our imagination and then work backwards from it. In the imagination world, one becomes the hero of their own constructed narratives and can live in communities with people who resonate with similar narratives. The content of these IRL integrated Metaverses, navigated through virtually created representations of the participant, are often user-created. This content could be also pre-designed for a particular event or a chosen purpose, limited only by one’s Imagination.

The potential for creating social change and transforming the economy is unlimited in this new world order. The ultimate goal of this Age is to observe, record and decipher, our lives, the environments that we inhabit and the cosmos in which we exist, with greater degrees of collaborative refinement, through collective creativity, organized action and democratized application of technology. The business of the modern world is to solve the existing problems that we face collectively and individually, and in this hybrid reality, we can be conductors of this process.
