As SHOT show begins to get closer many of us have started to lay the groundwork for upcoming related magazine articles. As always, I am thankful for companies willing to share their new products and lines prior to, or at the show. It makes my job of writing articles that much easier and allows me to better present your products. One area that has caused confusion and challenges is images. Most if not all magazines require high resolution photos of products and related material. So what the heck does this really mean? Images for magazines generally need to be 3mb in size or larger. You can determine the size of your image by right clicking on them and then selecting “properties”. This will give you the file size. In a modern digital and web based world, most images tend to be small in size to allow quicker loading via the internet. For print however we need large, crisp clean images. If you have had a professional photographer take your images, I am sure they can provide the lager images. In fact most modern digital cameras including phones shoot above 3mb images. Having solid images is the key to getting the most out of your exposure in magazines. If I can be of any assistance, please drop me a note. I look forward to seeing everyone in January.
