Is This An Image Of A Modern Monarchy
If Charles III is to leave a legacy, then the Monarchy has to modernise. His apparent desire to keep hold of the surrounding 'pomp and ceremony' does little in a 21st century United Kingdom other than to expose a rapidly increasing irrelevance of the Institution to the everyday lives of most people. The Crown has many attributes, but its continuing obsession with thrones, coronets, state processions and a requirement of due deference to Royalty only serves to emphasise that the 'The Firm' remains at the apex of a class system, which itself does more to divide than to unite this nation. The King is a man with empathy - the question is however - has he the will to make the changes needed for the Monarchy's survival.
