I'm Very Fortunate. Reviewing a Career of Leadership and Innovation as I Move Forward Faster.

As I mark my two-year anniversary as President with Truescope , a company I feel is the world's most innovative media monitoring service, I reflect on an incredible 34-year journey in the media intelligence industry—one defined by growth, leadership, and collaboration with exceptional individuals.

For 32 years, I had the privilege of growing and managing Universal Information Services, transforming it into a nationwide media intelligence challenger. This period was marked by bold moves, including the acquisition of several media monitoring services such as Walker Communications, Quality Services, Wisconsin Media Services, Utah News Clips, and others. Onboarding and growing clients in those diverse markets proved to be as rewarding as it was challenging—a testament to the ever-evolving nature of this field and the value of understanding what clients really want.

Beyond corporate growth, my career has also been enriched by a sense of global responsibility to my peers. Leading influential trade organizations like IABM, NACPCS, and now FIBEP has been both a challenge and an honor. These roles, combined with my membership in the NDS broadcast monitoring organization, have enabled me to shape and contribute to the evolution of media intelligence on a global scale.

Equally fulfilling has been the opportunity to collaborate with some of the industry's most respected leaders: Karen Anikis , Bob Waggoner, Jim French, Bob Cohen, Steve Newman , David Cyr , Richard Lombardo , John Croll AM , and, of course, my father, Jim Murphy. Each of them has left an indelible mark on my professional journey.

I’ve also enjoyed sharing my insights through keynote speeches, presenting at Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) events, and working closely with students at universities worldwide. These moments of engagement not only allow me to give back but also serve as reminders of the energy and innovation that younger generations bring to our field.

Now, as I do my part to help lead Truescope toward becoming a global leader in media intelligence, I know the best is yet to come. With a firm foundation of experience and an exciting horizon ahead, this journey continues to be both dynamic and fulfilling.

Thanks to everyone for their support, help, and contribution to who I am today. I am truly fortunate that I get to do the work I do.

Bob Cohen was a great leader and human being. He deeply cared about people as much as he did about building his business, which is why people were so loyal to him. He was one in a million and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to work for him, and I know very many feel the same.
