"I'm trying to give my business away."?

"I'm trying to give my business away."

I was walking down the street in Pass Christian, MS the other day and I started talking to this couple, Al & Peggy. They invited me to join them at their table and bought me a drink. It was a super fun conversation. Al told me about asking Peggy out for the first time thinking she would say no. He literally had tears in his eyes telling the story and it's been 42 years since that day. They are now in their late 60's. All is an entrepreneur and has a mobile X-ray business.

Peggy told how when things were busy he would swing by the house and she and their two girls would go out with him on a call and she would make him dinner and drive while he would eat it.

He shared a couple of things that stood out to me.

1. Everyone should be an entrepreneur. I don't totally agree with him but I think way more people should work for themselves than actually do. I wanted to pull out my phone at that point and start recording him.

2. Next he said he was trying to give his business away (not for free but for nothing down and pay it off over a few years) and couldn't do it because he couldn't find anyone hard-working enough. I don't know how much he makes from his business but it seems like they do beach trips at least once a month, mostly to the Caribbean, so I think he is doing OK. At that point, I was ready to jump out of my seat.

"I tell people all the time there are people like you in the world that like to turn over their business to a pair of trusted hands."

For young people out there there are three things that will set you apart from your peers. 1. Work hard, especially at the things no one else wants to do. 2. Ask questions and genuinely listen. 3. Provide value wherever you go.

If you are 18-30 you'll learn that, and a lot more, and also how to buy a business from someone like Al if you join us for www.TheBAMSchool.com
