I'm taking Fridays off.
I have a lot of practice working every damn day.
Especially as an entrepreneur. Maybe you can relate.
And, being the control freak that I am, I literally fear that everything will fall apart if I'm not there... in my business.
It's as though we sometimes build things based on dependencies in order to make ourselves feel important and valued. So, if you build a thing that can't live without you, then you're super important! Yay!
Time off confronts you with the possibility that there are other things to do than work, that maybe you have no intentions of doing the things you dream about when you're bogged down with todos, that maybe there are bigger elephants in the room to be addressed. Silence reveals fear.
So with all that being said, I'm doing what I normally never do and am taking Fridays off.
Because I'm overworked and tired. Because it's long been recommended. Because I need space in my brain to just be and chill out, such that I can not just be a worker bee in my brand but a leader of my brand.
Since I suck at taking time off, I'm going to need a bit of accountability. So, come back to this article every week for the rest of the third quarter to see if :
a. I actually took Friday off.
b. If I lived my best life during said time off.
c. How exactly I managed to be an overworking alien and didn't take time off when I said I would.
Stay tuned...
p.s. My new friend Mitch suggested that I dance all day on Fridays. If you have ideas for what would make a good day off, let me know in the comments.

6 年I recommend taking some time in nature.? As my colleague Scott Crabtree?of Happy Brian Science reminds me weekly, science shows that nature has a strong impact on our happiness.? don't want to drive to far for your nature fix- lots of options in Washington Park and if you spring for the membership the Japanese Gardens provide lots of tranquility.
