I’m Taking a Break....Could be Permanent!

After almost 42 years in the job market (I started age 5 ??) and over 30 years in the banking industry it’s time to hang up the spreadsheets, month ends, planning and project implementations and look to something a little bit different.

Golf?? No, was never very good and it’s a frustrating game

Cocktails on the beach?? As many of you know, not my style

So what then??

Well we bought a house in France.? To the Brits reading this you already know where I am going with this one ??

This unloved property is habitable but needs a lot of TLC, then there is a huge barn for conversion, 3 Hectares land (7.5 acres in the US), 9 Hectares of forest, all crowded around 1km of river - a proper river, not a stream.

After many years of neglect there are a myriad of problems to tackle, much of which we will do ourselves, with a little professional help.

So I guess it’s a bit of a cross between Escape to the Chateau, Clarkson’s Farm and Charles Dowding / Richard Perkins all wrapped up in an eco friendly wrapper.

The list of jobs to tackle, ideas to implement and eco experimentation, is very, very, very long!

The journey is therefore also long, will be full of ups and downs, successes and disappointments but then this is just life in general.

In todays environment of social media I am looking to join the ranks of YouTubers to attempt to document this journey to share with family and friends and others who want to tackle something similar (or just dream of it), plus it’s always nice to see where you started and what it has become.

All I need to do is learn how to use YouTube!

Trust me, you can teach an old dog new tricks.? So if anyone wants to teach me get in touch!

Sounds great Mark. Wishing you all the best. I nearly did the French house thing 25 years ago. Maybe soon time to give it another shot!

Amazing news Mark, I wish you the very best of luck and look forward to seeing updates on progress. A little sad because I did think our paths may cross with work again... Remember you talked about the dream team all those years ago ??
