I’M RAISING MONEY FOR CHILDREN IN NEED BY TREKKING TO EVEREST BASE CAMP….

(I know, I still can’t quite believe it myself)
For those who don’t know, Children in Need is the BBC’s national charity which has raised over £600 million for disabled children and young people across the UK since 1980, and currently supports 2,400 projects across the country. Admittedly it was a spur of the moment decision, between myself and my friend Gerard Whitehead , but this is definitely a worthy cause, as I’m sure you’ll agree.
The expedition starts in March 2018 and will last 19 days. Along the way we face extreme weather conditions and temperatures, high altitude sickness (base camp is at 17,598 feet above sea level) obvious muscle pains and blisters, a lack of flushable toilets, hot showers and fresh running water, oh, and a flight into the world's most dangerous airport at Lukhla.
Update 5/11 - training is going well, 17 munros climbed since July, as well as the mini Cateran Trail and plenty of time spent in the gym. Fundraising is a little behind where I want it to be, and so I'll be putting all my efforts into this over the next couple of months.
Here are a few photos from recent training days:
Summit of Cac Carn Mor (Lochnagar) 3,789ft
Summit of Carn a' Choire Bhoideach (White Mounth) 3,641ft
Summit of Geal Charn 3,008ft
Summit of Carn Gorm 3,376ft
Summit of Carn Mairg 3,419ft
Soaking on the Cateran Trail (observing a fairly pointless stile)
