THE ARTICLE PROCEEDS:

Island’s End Golf & Country Club was to be located “between Greenport and East Marion. Island’s End will be the first new course built on Long Island’s North Fork in more than thirty years.”

The “lot” was a “big 6,900-yard par 72 lay-out” “on a {120-acre tract} extending from route 25 to Long Island Sound.”

An “outstanding {feature} of the new course will be the ‘scenic seventh’ hole situated entirely on a high bluff overlooking Long Island Sound.

The course was “designed by Mr. George Heron {who was} formerly of famed Meadowbrook Country Club and which is being built by Charles Martin & Co.” “{Island’s End Golf Course} will be ready for play in the Spring of 1961.”

The sale of interest-bearing bonds helped make the “{development} of {this} new course.” A “temporary Club office at ” 325 Main Street (Sage Travel Service) {stet}” was where Charles Conribert recommended for thoe interested in membership to the Club should head-on-to.

You see folks – “bonds are a requisite for membership” and they were available at the time of this article’s printing date.

Charles Cornibert expressed: “inquiries concerning bond subscription and membership should be directed to {the Sage Travel Service}.
