Hi, my name is Jamie and I'm living through a career break. ????

Usually I use this newsletter as a way to teach a specific skill related to getting your voice heard in the world. I love learning specific skills. I have more of those coming in future newsletters. I am also a human living through a career transition.

This week, I want to talk with you about what a career break feels like.

My History

• Worked in retail pharmacy for 10+ years
• Founded my own company
• Scaled to $1M+ & sold that company
• Now I'm enjoying a semi-retirement/career break

How I Spend My Time Now

So now, here I am. An overachieving girl who has a lot of time on her hands.

And I tell you what: it feels so good.

It also feels so awkward and I even feel guilty, like I should be doing more. I have to keep reminding myself that this is what I spend so many years slaving away for: a debt-free life with an awesome, thriving family and a healthy body.

I'm holding myself back from jumping into the next project for a few reasons:

1. I want uninterrupted time with my kids. We are going to have the perfect summer ahead and do all the fun things together. I don't want work to get in the way.
2. I know I'm good at what I do. I want to make sure I'm working on the right next project (instead of the next thing that feels like a good idea). I've learned to exercise some caution. I wait before I put all my weight behind something. I make sure it's what I want to do.
3. I am enjoying lots of quiet time. Time to read. Time to walk outside. Time to work on my yard. Time to get caught up on life.

How Am I Making Money Right Now?

I am having fun keeping the cash flowing in a few different ways:

1. I'm working with a few 1:1 clients that I just adore.
2. I work a 3-4 afternoons a month at the local student health pharmacy.
3. I help proctor online courses with the University of Florida

I love working like this because it lets me work on my own schedule, and work with people I love.

I'm working way less than I have in the past. Yet, it is still more than enough. It is my season to fill up on other kinds of wealth than money.

What is Next?

Ahhhh, what is coming next!? The big question.

I'm very interested in communities right now. They are future of online education + support. I'm spending my summer laying the foundation for my community. I'm deciding who it will serve and what it will achieve.

I've run online communities in the past and they are just so fun and effective.

I'm building a movement of bold, fresh, pepped, and fun PharmD's who are making waves. That can be best achieved with the support of each other and an easy + fun way to collaborate.

Buckle up world. It's gonna be big.

But first, I've got to take the time to enjoy the good, good life I've built for a season.
