I’m so honoured to have been named Coach of the Year in the British HR Awards 2022. The British HR Awards were hosted in April 2022, and are an annual campaign that sets out to discover and celebrate the organisations and individuals that are truly passionate about delivering a world-class people experience.
All the amazing finalists gathered for a special celebration event in London, hosted by comedian Sally-Anne Hayward. After an engaging panel discussion we celebrated with Prosecco, Ping-Pong tournaments and Pizza, before taking our seats for the award ceremony. It was such a wellbeing boost to attend something ‘in person’ and the relaxed afternoon vibe was a perfect re-introduction to the real world again, high-heals and events.
There were over 100 entries and categories included sector specific awards such as ‘Technology Company of the Year’ and ‘Consultancy of the Year’ as well as overall awards including ‘Best Overall People Experience’ and ‘Employee Wellness Initiative of the Year’.
A big thank you to all the British HR Awards 2022 judges, including:
· Mel Willsmore, People Director at Strike
· Perry Timms, Chief Energy Officer at People and Transformational HR
· Kelly Stokes, HR Director at Aldi UK
· Hannah Reid, People Director at Apple
· Melanie Punch, Head of UK Careers at Investec
· Neil Piper, Chief People Officer at KFC
· Daniel Kasmir, Chief People and Procurement Officer at TalkTalk
· Nate Harwood, Founder at New Possible
The competition for Coach of the Year was fierce, all the finalists are worthy winners and highly sought after coaches who I'm pleased to have connected with through these awards.
I’ll be honest, it has taken me quite some time to come to terms with winning and emotionally accept this award, my self-sabotaging inner critic (always a popular coaching subject) was living her best life for a while.
So, now I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported and encouraged me and my research, but most importantly I want to say a big thank you for believing in my mission to research and raise awareness of mental health in coaching. Special mention must go to all the fifty50 coaching team and the organisations we partner with. Thank you also to my friends, coaching colleagues, the ICF, coaching supervisor Trish, and of course my family for keeping me going. Thanks go especially to my husband, Guy, who always tells me to do more of what makes me happy. And lastly, a big thank you to my wonderful private coaching clients. Being part of your growth journey is what it is all about.
