I'm guilty as charged

When I first read Roadblocks You Can't Ignore! by George Sotiropoulos, I was fully engaged in my business.

This summer, I've taken a big step back from my Search Marketing Simplified business.

My 20+ year-old consulting practice is still going but I'm exploring a new path that I'll be sharing very soon.

When Tom Ruwitch and I chose Roadblocks You Can't Ignore! as the book of the month for our Mastermind Book Club, I wondered if the roadblocks were still relevant to me.

It turns out, most of the 10 roadblocks are relevant to me in my business AND my personal life.

In case you aren't familiar with the 10 roadblocks, here they are:

1. Lack of Clear Vision: Without a clear vision for your business, it's easy to lose direction and motivation.

2. Inadequate Planning: Failing to create detailed business plans can lead to missed opportunities and unpreparedness for challenges.

3. Inefficient Time Management: Poor time management skills can cause burnout and prevent you from focusing on high-impact activities.

4. Fear of Delegation: Trying to do everything yourself hinders growth and limits your business potential.

5. Resistance to Change: Being unwilling to adapt to new trends or technologies can keep your business from staying competitive.

6. Poor Financial Management: Lack of proper financial oversight can lead to cash flow problems and financial instability.

7. Ineffective Marketing Strategies: Not investing in or optimizing marketing efforts can result in low customer acquisition and retention.

8. Unhealthy Work-Life Balance: Overworking without taking time for personal life can lead to stress and decreased productivity.

9. Lack of Self-Discipline: Inconsistency in work habits and routines can derail progress and reduce effectiveness.

10. Negative Mindset: A pessimistic attitude can undermine your confidence and ability to overcome challenges.

I can apply these roadblocks to my business AND my personal life as I explore my future.

I don't plan to "retire" but I'm at the age I want to focus on what I love doing and say "NO" to everything else.

Now that I'm digging deeper into what I say "YES" to, I realize I should have been doing this for the past 20 years.

How many times did I say "YES" to an engagement when deep down I knew it was going to be a nightmare but I needed to keep the cashflow going?

I guess I could chalk that up to the Lack of Clear Vision roadblock.

Join Tom and I on Thursday July 25th at 11:30 AM Pacific/2:30 PM Eastern as we discuss Roadblocks You Can't Ignore!

George Sotiropoulos will also be joining us.

There is no charge for the book club and we read the book for you.

See you Thursday.
