"I'm not the exception"
Former Jean Chrétien-era cabinet minister Sheila Copps joined me to discuss how Parliament is addressing sexual harassment. Copps has been open about her experiences with sexual harassment and assault and believes the ongoing conversation is a step in the right direction.
"Shining the light on Harvey Weinstein, on the chef in Ottawa, on the producers in Montreal is part of a bigger issue," she said. "While racism is taboo, sexism is still not and that's what you need to tackle in a much larger context."
But pointing the finger at one industry isn't going to change anything.
"You have to realize that the whole issue with sexual harassment comes from power imbalance and is pervasive in society."
