I’m building a medical billing company

Hey friends! I’ve been off the LinkedIn radar for awhile so I thought I’d give you an update.

I started a medical billing company!

A bit of a curve ball given that I’ve been doing engineering and product at enterprise software companies since 2016.

But yeah. Here we are. I promise you it’s a good story.?

I married a doctor. And after years of sitting with doctors over drinks and talking about their jobs, medical billing just kept coming up as an issue. Over and over and over.

There’s a large cohort of Canadian doctors who spend hours every month submitting claims to the government in order to get paid. That’s because Canada is a single-payer healthcare system where provincial governments are the main insurer for medical services. Insurers need claims. In Canada, it's your doctor who submits those claims.

How do they do it? They do it using medical billing software created by private companies and this software just ain’t that great. Submitting thousands of claims using okay software is a recipe for sadness. And carpal tunnel.

Lots of doctors alleviate this pain by hiring a medical billing agency to do it for them. But the same tools that make it hard for a doctor to do their billing make it hard for a medical billing service to scale.

So yeah. I started CleanBill to try and make this shit easier for doctors and for billers.

CleanBill is a medical billing service first, and a software company second. We built our own MSP-approved software so that we can bill faster, bill more accurately, and automate tasks that would normally be manual. Our agents can therefore spend more time focused on our customers and their claims and less time on data entry and validation.

Our next step is to provide an interface to our software for physicians so that they can get a real-time picture of their claims processing.?

Our vision is to be a centralized platform for physicians to manage their income and understand their practice patterns. We want to give our customers medical billing superpowers. ??
