"But Esther, it's so difficult."
“I am not being taken seriously”
I often hear this from women working in the sports industry, and maybe you've voiced it too.
?
Are you a woman that says:
?? That it is difficult to get a promotion or even an opportunity as a woman in this sector
?? That you are not taken seriously or seen as a woman in sports
?? That the men around you make it difficult for you
Let's pause for a moment. Is it genuinely as tough as it seems, or could it be an excuse holding you back from taking charge? It's often simpler to point fingers at the external world than to take personal action.
So, I challenge you to reflect: is it genuinely the case? Or could it be that you're not taking yourself seriously? Are you truly not being respected, or are you failing to acknowledge your own abilities, talents, and leadership?
And to go even further, let’s imagine that you can flip the narrative.
? What if being a woman in sports, or any male-dominated field, is not a setback but an advantage?
? What if you could make it work for you rather than against you, especially 'being the only woman at the table'?
? What if being a woman in this industry actually works posititively for you, making it easier to stand out from the crowd?
You can choose: do you keep sabotaging yourself by repeating the same story over and over again or do you decide to write a new one?
