I'm a badass stuntwoman.

I'm a badass stuntwoman.

A few months ago, I was driving on a road close to home, taking Ollie to meet a friend for the first time. As I was going through an intersection, a car crossed traffic and drove right into me.

The impact sent my car rolling?six?times, only stopping when we?(thankfully) hit a tree. ??

The force of hitting that tree ejected Ollie out of the (already shattered) sunroof. My Jeep was on its side at that point, and I frantically crawled out of the sunroof myself, looking for her. As I emerged,?I found Ollie sitting in the grass — still attached to her seatbelt — unharmed. (I'm embarrassed to admit that Juno never wore a seatbelt. But after living through this, I?will forever be an advocate.)

After I scooped her up in my arms, I looked around to see people — from all directions — coming towards me to help. It was incredible that in as long as it takes a car to roll?across a highway, so many people gathered to help. Even the driver stopped. I handed Ollie to a kind stranger while I collected myself, and?others immediately started sifting through the wreckage to find my belongings.

Why am I sharing all of this?

Because at a time when it feels like we’re surrounded by negativity and division, the universe put it front and center: There are good people in the world.?

Also because my therapist has taken to calling me a “badass stuntwoman” — and do you know what? Maybe I kinda am. ??

But as Mister Rogers said, "Real strength has to do with helping others."

P.S. If you need a badass stuntwoman handling your design, I’ve got you. Together, I think we’re capable of pretty incredible feats.

Tara, so glad to hear you are here to tell the tale and that the kindness of strangers is still flourishing in PGH. (and of course that Ollie was ok, too!)

Oh my gosh, Tara, so glad you're okay! But how wonderful, in retrospect, that you could glean such a positive, uplifting takeaway from an otherwise traumatic event! Seeing and holding on to the good in the world is so important these days. You go, Badass Stuntwoman! ??
