I'm Back and Villa Still Haven't Won!
Yes, I’ve been away for over a month starting a new job so I’ve been unable to update the blog but never fear, I’m BACK!
So what’s happened in my absence…
-
Jamie Vardy breaks the EPL consecutive scoring record
-
Leicester City are still top of the league
-
Chelsea are still shite
-
Manchester United are out of the Champions League
-
Dick Advocatt, Garry Monk and Tim Sherwood were given the boot
-
Aston Villa still haven’t won!
Being a Villa fan I have to start there.
It’s a circus down at Villa park these days. No commitment from the board, the players and now I’d say a small section of supporters.
I don’t mean to be a scrooge but I see more atmosphere at a cemetery than at Villa Park! Against Arsenal at the weekend we unveiled a banner at the kick off and that’s as far as the cheer reached. It was swamped by a travelling Arsenal support who constantly sang “is this a library?”. They were right. I’m not an home supporter, never claimed to be and never will be. I make sure I go to as many away days as possible and I respect all supporters that work all week and folk out £££ knowing their team are going to take a battering. I’m just upset with the lack of noise coming from our fans at this crucial time. The amount of fans that have cut up they season ticket cards and splurged shite over facebook “I’m never going to see this shower of shite again” is pitiful and not the reason why I’m a proud Villa fan. I know these fans are fickle and every club has them but grow a fucking backbone and get behind the team. I may not be there every week but win, lose or draw I will always be a Villain!
Before the game at the weekend there was an emergency meeting between Tom Fox and a number of Villa supporter groups. At the top of the agenda was the chairman status and the current situation the club finds itself off the field. What I have heard from the meeting, Villa are about to confirm a new chairman but funds seem to be low for January spend. I’ve heard it all before about a new chairman and new board members so I’ll believe it when I see it and for the low budget for transfers… It just makes me sick. We might as well run at a loss, spend big to ensure our safety in the Premier League and reek the rewards next season with the big television money! But and it’s a big BUT, if we spend big in January and it doesn’t work, we run the risk of plunging into financial difficulty and have to rely on parachute payments to get back into the Premier League. I’d say go for it! Because the current crop of players aren’t good enough to keep us in the League and a few experienced heads might just guide us out of relegation come May.
