I'm back but still in vacation mode...

My holidays are over and here is what I learned from my long summer break!
Hello Linkedin - I’m back & I'm planning to stay on vacation mode while working...
let me explain ??
This year, I forced myself not to work during my holidays
I needed :
?
The first week, I only replied to two or three important emails – then the last 3 weeks I completely switched off
?
?? While I wanted to post on linkedin once a week - I was too lazy to do it!
was it bad… did I lose my followers?
oh well, the Linkedin algorithm will tell me soon
Do I care?
Not really… my mental break were more important than being visible on LinkedIn
?
?? I tried to use my phone much less.
Instead of looking at the news / Insta / Linkedin feed every time I had some free time – I looked around and saw smiley faces, the sun, the sea, I listened to cicadas, and I read a whole book!!!! (which is a big achievement for a busy working mum)
Was it a good feeling to be in the moment?
Oh YES!
?
?? Was my holiday without emails and phone different?
Yes & MUCH BETTER!
?
?? My learning:
It was such a good feeling so let’s try to maintain these good habits as much as we can.
?
?? We don’t always need to reply to emails right away or in the evening/weekends

?? We don’t always need to have our phone with us constantly,
?? We don’t always need to post something on social media,
?? We don’t always need to look at our phone instead of admiring the surroundings or being present in the moment.
?
Having a break from technology is important,
Let's not wait for our holidays to reconnect with ourselves, or other important things in our lives.
I know it's easy to say and not easy to maintain in our daily busy lives BUT I challenge myself to continue using less technology, to set better boundaries and to reconnect with myself on a more regular basis.
?
??BY THE WAY:
In the workplace, boundaries can be set to focus better and use our phones less:
?? Have your phone in "Airplane Mode" during your online meetings to avoid distractions
?? Some companies ask employees to leave their phones in a box at the room entrance for a face-to-face meeting: it's a great way to focus all at the same time and be fully present
?? make sure you set the rules with your team and communicate clearly the boundaries ( for example: no emails or phone answers expected during weekends or between 7pm and 7am)
What do you think about it? Will you give it a try? any other useful tips?
