I am concerned about the lack of diversity in management positions in the American private sector. I have never been a vocal advocate for DEI, but I now realize that it is an important issue that we must address. Maybe turning 55 last week has something to do with it, who knows?
I have always believed that the best person for the job should be chosen, regardless of their race or gender. However, the fact that there are no Black female CEOs in the Fortune 500 companies suggests that there is a problem with unconscious bias in the hiring process.
I urge businesses to take steps to address this issue and create a more diverse and inclusive workplace. This is not only the right thing to do, but it is also good for business. Studies have shown that diverse teams are more creative and innovative.
I am confident that there are many Black women who are qualified to be CEOs of Fortune 500 companies. I hope that businesses will start to see the value of diversity and give these women a chance to lead. I'm curious, what are your thoughts on this issue. Am I missing something? Are you telling me that we don't have ONE black female in the United States that is qualified to be the CEO of a Fortune 500 company? ( I'm asking for a friend)
