“I’m always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught”!
Top of the weekend my friends! I begin today’s saga with a quote from the great British statesman Winston Churchill.
Who once said “I’m always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught”!
When someone says “I’m going to teach you a lesson”. What just popped into your mind?
My guess is generally something negative. Though everything that’s bad that happens to you isn’t always so bad. Is it?
While researching this quote, I came across a few others like this one:?
“True leaders, in short, do not make people into followers, but into other leaders.” He’s the author of Teach your own: The John Holt Book of Homeschooling.?
However most of us do not have the gift of homeschooling or quite frankly the time. Yet we listen to embarrassing false assumptions even vicious unfairness, about the people who do.
I’m always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught”!
Since we are at the precipice of another school year. I want to address the plight of Educators. Students go to school but don’t like being taught. However you're dedicated to help them want to learn. And each year start from scratch another class Who don’t want to be taught.

What a conundrum! Typically one with a pun in its answer. So how do you peak their interest? Teachers with a sense of humor can make what you don’t like more fun.?Or speak their language with things that peak their interest.
Case in point. Did you know hip hop icon Tupac Shakur said “Even the genius asks questions”! Teach!!!!
How about Apple’s creative genius Steve Jobs. The guy who created that phone you can't do without put it this way. “Ideas without action aren’t ideas. They’re regrets”.?As Missy Elliot put it a "One Minute Man"! Not the kind of reputation you want is it?
Marshall arts master Bruce Lee adds “Knowing is not enough. We must apply. Willing is not enough, We must do”!?You a player or a hater?
I often wonder the motive of those who have done well in life. No matter how you acquired success. You got there because a of a teacher. You probably still remember their name. Don't forget where you came from!?
They come to their school early and stay late. They spend their own money encourage kids with promise. And they don't do it for the money!! The pay check almost always never resemble the commitment they give. It's like being in a bad marriage. We take them for granted! Add guns in school and too often a student who uses it. Yet they keep coming back. By the way less this year than last. I’m always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught”!
If you are a educator just about to fight the "Good Fight" again one more year? Thank you from the bottom of my heart! And thank you also for making a difference!!
I’ll close with a word from that great educator Dr Seuss who reminds all of us, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you will learn, the more places you will go”. Donut ever forget it!
