I'm not alone : )
Wednesday 7/31/19...
I spent a lot of time on these training modules yesterday for the consulting bootcamp I joined. I'm making a lot of progress and am really excited as I make my way through the work. I'm very familiar with most of the concepts in the curriculum but desperately needed the structure to hold me accountable and keep me on the right track.
Freelancing is a lonely job. Sure, I get to talk to colleagues, clients, and acquaintances all the time, but it's really just me sitting in this office day-in and day-out. This group I've joined has helped though. I have a mentor I can turn to when I'm doubting myself or just need a second opinion. There's a group of people who are experiencing similar challenges in their own business, so I know I'm not alone. It's created this sense of community for me that I haven't had since I left my job. It's nice to have that back!
It's easy to get lost when you're off on your own. I feel like I've been wandering for the past 2 months, looking for the right path to walk. But I'm pretty sure my compass has been broken and my map was like a Rorschach test. It's nice to have a sense of direction. I finally feel like I'm on the right track.
And that's why I've been so excited to put in the effort. Because it's the only thing standing in the way of my goals at the moment. So I just need to keep putting in the work and have the sense to ask for help when I need it.
At the moment, I'm on track to start my outreach by the end of the week. Hopefully, that means I'll start talking to potential clients as early as next week. That will allow me to validate my hypothesis and see if I can help my target audience solve their challenges.
The idea is to find similar people whom all suffer from the same thing. That way I get really friggin good at solving that one challenge, making it easier and easier for me to sign more clients, help more people, and grow my business.

This is an entry from my personal daily journal. I recently left the 9-5 to work for myself - something I've dreamed of for as long as I can remember. It's my hope that these posts inspire anyone looking to do the same or shed some light on what this journey is really like.
