Illusive CVs - a wise move?
We are seeing more and more CVs with key information missing and I often wonder why?
Has the explosion of GDPR created a completely data sensitive culture?
Are candidates becoming paranoid about their data 'getting out'?
It's a sad state of affairs if that's the case, it really is.
In our specialist field, automotive, lots of CVs arrive with no address, personal data removed and in some cases, actual names of employers removed.
For example;
2014 - present
Market Leading Automotive Company - Sales Manager
More often than not, a quick flick onto LinkedIn can fill in the employment blanks but most diligent recruiters and employers will then make contact with the candidate to get additional missing data. After all, we need to know our candidates right?
From an agency perspective, it's certainly an inconvenience when receiving around 100 CVs a day.
So what's the general consensus? Are we all turning into paranoid nut jobs?
I know CV spamming by unscrupulous recruiters has affected trust, and that has been a big issue in the automotive sector but hasn't GDPR been brought in to combat this?
For me, a CV should bare all. If you are applying for a role, withholding information only slows the process down and in some cases, will stop your application progressing.
I'd be keen to get some views on this..............
