Illusions VS. Reality

Illusions VS. Reality

One of the key skills when it comes to success, is to be able to differentiate illusions from reality.

Examples:

- What feels good is often not what’s going to give you your desired outcome. What feels wrong is something we have to explore to have an outcome entirely different from what we had. To get a different outcome, it requires to "not be yourself."

- Those who are louder and shinier are not necessarily doing better than those who are less about being loud. Those who have nothing to prove often deliver the best results.

- The obvious path to fixing a problem is the wrong path. If you have career dissatisfaction, don’t get a new job. If you have money issues, don’t try to fix your money. If you have marriage issues, the marriage is not the actual problem. For all these, look at your deep internal programming of how you ended up here.

- When you do Real Work, as I mention in my book, “Am I There Yet?” you’ll feel annoyed, and look around for something that feels easier. Sticking through the resistance and boredom is actually what’s required to get the results you want. You’ll also hate the person who puts you through facing your Real Work, more than once, even for extended periods of time. I can’t say how many times I hated my mentor and coach I’ve had for over 6 years. I’ve gone to other coaches in between to please my positioning. Nobody challenges me like her. I’m certain my own clients hate me at point, see me as redundant, and wish me gone, because that’s the real process.

- In business and in life, as soon as you think you’ve “got it,” it’s actually only the beginning, and all you’ve done is the preparatory work to get to the Real Work.

- The illusion is that we “arrive,” and things get easier at some point, when you have more money, when you get into some status, or find a certain partner. We never “arrive.” When we feel we arrived, we are back to being complacent.

Many will hate these truths and would have stopped reading much earlier. So if you read until the end, I congratulate you!

This is very true. Growth never stops but we always get pulled to be closer to what is familiar (the easy comforting ways) Doing the deep work is really one of the hardest challenges we have to face and constantly throw yourself into a battle with...yourself

Very insightful post, ? Julia Cha ? ! The more annoyed you are with your coach, the more you probably need them. ?? A good coach challenges you to do hard work and face reality. This isn't easy and is uncomfortable. But that's GOOD!!! It means you are growing into an even stronger version of yourself.
