The Illusion of 100% in Recruiting

The Illusion of 100% in Recruiting

Why Less is Sometimes More

In the world of recruiting, companies often strive to find the perfect match between a candidate and a predefined profile. But in reality, the question arises: Is it even possible to achieve a 100% match?

After countless search assignments for clients, I have found that the most successful placements are not necessarily those that match a meticulously crafted profile 100%. Rather, it's the candidates whose most important 2-3 components align and who are then given the freedom to bring their personality and ideas to the table.

Why is this the case? Because humans are not machines that execute precisely defined tasks. Those treated like machines will ultimately disappoint. Instead, people thrive when they can identify with their work and have the opportunity to contribute their skills and creativity.

Therefore, it is crucial not only to focus on technical competencies but also on the attitude, mindset, and cultural fit of a candidate. When these core aspects align, there is a high likelihood that the employee will unleash their full potential and even bring innovative solutions to the table.

In conclusion, those who exclusively seek a 100% match with a job profile are likely to be disappointed. Instead, it is important to prioritize and find those candidates who can go above and beyond. Ultimately, it is these employees who create the greatest value for a company.
