Ikigai: Using ChatGPT to Discover my Purpose?

Hey everyone, I've been diving into something pretty interesting lately, and I thought it’d be cool to share it with you all. It’s about this concept called Ikigai, which is essentially about finding what really gets you excited to jump out of bed every morning. It’s where what you love, what you’re good at, what the world needs, and what can pay the bills come together. I’ve been on this personal quest to figure out my own Ikigai, and guess what? AI played a surprisingly big role in helping me pinpoint it.

Here is the output from ChatGPT about my Ikigai:

Your Ikigai

Passion and Mission: You're driven by a deep sense of purpose, finding joy in enriching the lives of others, particularly through managing personal finances. This reflects your compassion and desire to contribute positively to the world. Your ideal day involves making progress on entrepreneurial ventures that help others, coupled with learning and personal growth. Your heart is moved by fairness and the well-being of those who are underserved and overlooked, guiding your mission to empower and uplift.

Profession and Vocation: People naturally seek you out for your emotional support, financial guidance, and critical perspective on entrepreneurial challenges. Your unique blend of joviality, deep conversational ability, and non-judgmental approach, combined with a wealth of experience, positions you as a trusted advisor and problem-solver. This aligns with a profession where you can leverage these strengths to make a living while genuinely helping others improve their lives.

What Holds You Back: Your self-critique and doubt, fuelled by anxiety and past influences, have been barriers to embracing your full potential. However, your awareness and commitment to personal development, along with intentionally surrounding yourself with successful individuals, are powerful steps toward overcoming these obstacles. Recognizing that these feelings do not define your capabilities or worth is key to moving forward.

Moving Forward with Your Ikigai

Your Ikigai lies in creating or enhancing a venture that directly improves people's lives through empowerment and education in personal finance and beyond. This venture should not only offer valuable, fair solutions to pressing issues but also embody a culture of kindness, fairness, and personal growth—both for the individuals you help and for yourself as an entrepreneur.

To fully embrace this path:

  1. Lean into Your Strengths: Continue to offer emotional support, financial guidance, and entrepreneurial insight. These are your gifts to the world and the foundation of your professional success.
  2. Address Your Fears: Acknowledge your doubts and anxieties as signals, not barriers. Use them to assess risks wisely but don't let them halt your progress. Practicing mindfulness or seeking support can help manage anxiety.
  3. Cultivate a Supportive Community: Surround yourself with people who inspire you and believe in the possibility of success as you define it. Their mindset will encourage and motivate you.
  4. Commit to Lifelong Learning: Continue to seek out new knowledge and experiences. This curiosity will fuel your growth, keep your offerings innovative, and enhance your personal fulfilment.
  5. Focus on Impact: Measure your success by the positive impact you have on others' lives. Financial success will follow when you stay true to your mission of fairness and empowerment.

Your Ikigai is a living, evolving purpose that will guide you to a fulfilling and meaningful path. Embrace it with openness, willingness to adapt, and compassion for yourself and others. This journey is yours, and it's one of continuous discovery and growth.

Closing Remarks

So here’s the kicker: I didn't actually know about Ikigai until I used ChatGPT. It helped me to find out about, and navigate through, the process of discovering my Ikigai. It was like having a personal guide asking the tough questions.

AI tools have become central not just in defining my entrepreneurial venture but also in how I guide my company in the use and implementation of these tools. In our work and our lives, understanding and integrating AI effectively can open new avenues for growth, efficiency, and achieving our mission. I am committed to empowering others with this knowledge, offering support to anyone eager to embark on this journey of discovery and integration.

If you’re curious about integrating AI into your life or just want to chat about finding your Ikigai, I’m here. Let’s make sense of this together, minus the tech jargon and with a whole lot of real talk.

Let's embrace the power of purpose and technology together, transforming challenges into opportunities for a fulfilling and impactful future.

Love this! Brilliant post Rob! 'What is my purpose' is the big question so many would love the answer to (I definitely would!). I think we often focus on our purpose being career/job related, but from a spiritual sense, there's something golden about your purpose as being here to enjoy this life (whatever that means to you).
