Ike Cardinali, Senior Designer | 5 Year Profile

Where do you see yourself in five years? With the same company? In a new country? Or maybe you’ve taken on more responsibilities and a new role. A lot can happen in five years and we’re all about celebrating the big and the small.?

This series is all about shining a spotlight on our people who have seen their careers develop with We The Collective and have been an integral part of our growth as a company.?

Ike Cardinali is no stranger to change. Originally from Brazil, he made a brief pitstop in Ireland before finding his home in Vancouver and officially became a Canadian citizen this year! And though he may have won the hearts of all us Canadians, we know his heart still lies with his football team, Atlético Mineiro and “Galo”.?

Ike has a talent for working collaboratively with our team, from Copywriters to Developers and beyond, he is always ready to jump on a call or jam on some ideas. Since starting with We The Collective, Ike has gone from strength to strength and has proved his passion for design on several big projects. More recently he has worked with our People and Culture team to support the onboarding of new designers and interns.?

A regular contributor to our Pets Slack channel, Ike posts pupdates of his frenchie Johnny Cash! And some of us have even heard a sleepy Johnny snoring in a meeting—Ike swears it isn’t him.?

5 Questions, 5 Years with Ike Cardinali

How has your role evolved since you started? What skills or experiences have you gained along the way?

A lot has changed. The knowledge and experience I’ve acquired over the years allowed me to lead big projects on the design side with confidence and efficiency. I also had the opportunity to develop some different skills, such as onboarding and mentoring new colleagues that joined the team along the way. I get happy when I see people around me growing and enjoying the work.

What advice would you go back and give yourself on your first day at We The Collective?

“Be confident. You know how to do it.”

What do you think is the most unexpected thing about WTC?

We’re always finding new ways of bringing ourselves out of our comfort zone—I enjoy that.

What do you like most about working at WTC?

The people: my colleagues are talented folks who inspire me to do better every day.

The clients: we work with brands and products that I really admire and are part of my life. They keep the work interesting and exciting for me.

Is there a particular creative project that stands out to you the most?

I’m really proud of what we did for Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom. From web design to advertising, we’ve created work that could keep up with the quality of the game.

Favourite Coffee Break Spot?-

I’m easy with coffee, but if I’m in the office I’d go for an Iced Latte or a London Fog from Pallet. Can’t go wrong with that.
